Mickey's Toontown is one of the eight themed lands of Disneyland located in the northernmost section of the park. It was inspired by and developed after the wild success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Its Magic Kingdom counterpart was Mickey's Toontown Fair, which closed in 2011 to make way for that park's Fantasyland expansion. An identical copy of the land can be found at Tokyo Disneyland.
History[]
When Mickey's Toontown opened, it was given this backstory:
- Choosing to live away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, Mickey Mouse moved to a Toon suburb in a hidden part of Anaheim in the 1930s, keeping in touch with his humble Midwestern roots. His friends followed suit and built their own houses nearby. When Walt Disney was looking for a location to build Disneyland, Mickey pointed him towards a large orange grove nearby for him to build his park.
- When the park opened, Mickey and his friends traveled between their Toontown homes and Disneyland to meet the countless guests that visited the park. Eventually, in 1993, Mickey and his fellow Toontown residents decided to open their hometown to the public for visitors, digging a tunnel through the berm.
Since 1993, Mickey's Toontown (or a fictional version thereof, possibly meant to be the original city from Who Framed Roger Rabbit) has been featured as the hometown for Mickey and Friends in various media including television shows, films and video games (however, comic book stories still depict Mickey and Goofy as residents of Mouseton and Donald living in Duckburg). The area was also the inspiration for the Kingdom Hearts series' world Disney Town (first featured in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep) and OsTown in the Epic Mickey series.

- There was originally going to be a "Piano Movers" truck in which the gag is that a piano crashed on the truck. It was eventually scrapped.
- The Wiggles explore in this place in Australia's TV special: The Wiggles Live at Disneyland Park.
- Jenna von Oÿ, the voice of Stacey, lives in and explores this place as the host, except as she calls it as the most famous animated places in the world from the 1995 documentary, The Making of A Goofy Movie.
